  • Ever since we moved here, we've been trying to find these trails. Yes. It's taken us THIS LONG to find the damn things. We wouldn't have found them now if I hadn't asked on a local message board for mountain bikers haha. A kind lady gave us directions and we barely found the dirt path to park. If it hadn't been for a couple other cars there, we never would have.

Immediately upon stepping on the trail, we see these really large... things. We saw a lady carrying a couple of them, and upon further poking we kind of guess that they're some kind of fruit, but neither of us have any idea what type. I take a picture and text it to my sister and her husband who know just about everything nature-y and they have no idea either.

Once we get home though, a quick google search found the answer for me!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maclura_pomifera

And now you know too. Or maybe you already did.

There was also a really random bamboo thicket. We're guessing somebody might have planted a ton of them to separate their yard from the trails (there were a TON of super nice houses boarding the trails) and it just got out of control, but who knows.

We finally made it to the reservoir itself. There was a huge white bird out on the other side with a littler brown one beside it. It never did get close enough that we could see what it was, and we didn't take the regular camera with us so we couldn't zoom in on it. D:

I let BF lead a lot. That way if there's a hole, or rock, or giant bear, he finds it first. :3

There were a couple places like this that you had to step gingerly on rocks to get over without falling into the creek. Do you guys realize how uncoordinated I am? Shit like this terrifies me because I almost always fall or trip haha. I managed to get over it (both times!) without getting wet though.

All in all we probably walked about 2 miles round trip. It was wonderful weather and I'm glad we finally found it.

  • Boyfriend made dinner tonight

Or I should more accurately say, he came up with the idea of it. Mix ground beef and kraft mac and cheese. I looked at him and agreed, then told him to have at it since it was his baby.

He just looked at me and asked me to at least brown the beef. I asked why. Apparently he had no idea how. So you know, impromptu cooking lesson, but he wasn't really paying attention since the VT game was on. Which meant I ended up making all of it.

He pulled out some spices to put on the beef. I asked him why he chose those ones, and he shrugged.

So I cooked the hamburger, put the garlic powder, onion powder, and sweet paprika on it, made the mac and cheese, and mixed it all together.

I'll admit, I didn't hold much hope for this. But it actually came out pretty tasty. Give me a moment to bask in some pride for my boy, haha.

  • My morning

So I ended up not being able to fall asleep until around 3:30 this morning. Apparently, I got waaay used to not drinking caffeine. So when I do finally fall asleep, I end up waking up around 8 am hating life and not being able to fall asleep. After some snuggle time with boy, I fall asleep again for an hour, hour and a half more. Until his mother calling woke me up. After that I just said fuck it and went and got in the shower.

Stepping out, I pause in front of the sink to put my glasses on and wrap up in my towel. Wash is sitting on the sink, meowing. I say "Yes, Wash?" And am immediately pounced upon.

I'd love to know why he loves doing this so much. Does he think he's a bird? Does he just like the height? I really don't get it.

Ignore my dumb face and the fact that it looks like I'm naked. I'm kind of not, promise!

I have really, really fucking weird cats.

BF and I have also came to the conclusion that we're old and have been together too long. When one of us says "I think I have a scratch on my bum, could you look?" and we don't even think twice about it. Either we're old, or that's true love haha

  • Things you'll google image then wish you hadn't.

    -MRSA wounds
    -Recto-vaginal fistula
    -Fistulas in general
    -Prolapses, of any kind

Small list, but honestly? That's all you need. Sometimes I wish I didn't work in urology/pelvic health. But then I figure no matter the department, there's going to be something that makes you go "ahhh, oh god" when you're making appointments from referrals and have no idea what the word means or what the disorder does.

Please god, please never let me have a fistula or prolapse. I beg you.

Fact: My sister that has Crohns disease had a recto-vaginal fistula. She said it's just as mind-fuckingly horrifying as you can imagine.

  • Dinner and a pun

Dinner tonight. This is what we call "we're too damn lazy to even THINK."

    Appetizers! They're delicious.

And we made all of it go away. Omnomnom

Found this on tumblr. It made me lol.

Yeah, there's probably a shorter link to it someplace, but whatever. Basically enter your birth date and press enter. Go ahead and skip to the personality part first. That's where the fun stuff is anyway.

I've always loved shit like this. I've also really liked to think I was "in tune" with whatever this stuff is called as a whole. It's dumb, I know. But I love it none the less.

    1-Imix

Beneath the 1-Imix surface personality is an emotional power house. Thesepeople have strong creative urges and feel an instinctive need to nurtureothers. For many, this need is actually the reflection of a desire to havea family to protect, although this need can also be met through pets andfriends. Those born during this period can be emotionally dominating, in anunconscious way, and others may have problems with this personalitycharacteristic.

    G-8 (South)

Those born here tend to have over simulated minds and are often obsessivetalkers, in some cases being counselors or psychologists. They are complexpeople who learn to face the inner world and who know how to get to the centerof things.

They are drawn to the deeper, darker sides of life, and are sometimescaught up in struggles with negative thoughts, their own or those of others. Thistendency means a G-8 might choose a career as a psychotherapist or aninvestigator. This type reacts to stimuli very quickly, perhaps over-reactingsome of the time.

G-8 people are very clever, quick of mind, and fast on their feet. This facilitymay be a boon in situations where decisiveness is valued, but it can causetrouble under more controlled conditions. Their need to talk is strong, andtheir powerful intellect is best used for research or investigation.

One of their challenges is that they need to learn how to study effectively. In addition they need to be physically active by walking, running,or riding. The planet Mercury, the sign of Gemini, and an emphasized ninth houseare commonly found in the charts of those born here.

So, does yours match your personality? How is it different? Do you think all of this is bullshit?

  • Tonight

So today was cold and dreary and blustery and rainy. Pretty much typical fall in Maryland from what I'm gathering. Instead of just coming home and sleeping like I wanted, I figured I should probably stay up and plan dinner. And by "plan" I mean, an hour before BF gets home I start staring into the depths of my freezer/fridge/cabinets.

But! This is what I came up with:

Corn on the cob that I "roasted" in the oven, cheesy mashed potatoes with some scallion, and a bbq cheeseburger.

The burger I put garlic and onion powder on, some liquid smoke, and a dash of sweet paprika, then smothered that shit in Jack Daniel's original bbq sauce for a half hour before grilling. It turned out really, really good.

    Om nomnom.

Then after dinner, BF and I watched Catching Hell, an ESPN docu-drama type thing about some poor sap who caught a fowl ball at a Cubs game.

Ignore fat-face syndrome. This happens when you're sitting/laying at this angle, okay?! haha
